Running Pace Calculator
Convert between pace and finish time, with per-kilometre splits
Instructions
How to Use the Running Pace Calculator\n\n## What It Does\nPace (minutes per kilometer) and finish time are the two numbers runners use most in training. This tool works both ways and also gives you splits, so you can check your rhythm against your watch during a race.\n\n## How to Use\n1. Mode 1 "Pace from result": enter distance and total time (h:m:s) to get pace and speed\n2. Mode 2 "Result from pace": enter a target pace (min:sec / km) and distance to get the predicted finish time\n3. Quick buttons at the top for 5K, 10K, half marathon and marathon fill in the distance with one click\n4. Below the result you'll see the cumulative time for each kilometer (every 5 km on long distances)\n\n## Notes\n- Distance is in kilometers; the half marathon is calculated as 21.0975 km and the marathon as 42.195 km\n- Splits assume an even pace; real runs vary, so treat them as a pre-race reference only\n- All calculations are done locally in your browser
❓ FAQ
How many kilometers are the half marathon and marathon calculated as?
The half marathon is calculated as 21.0975 km and the marathon as 42.195 km, which are the official standard distances.
What's the difference between pace and speed?
Pace is how long it takes to run one kilometer, and a lower number is faster; speed is how many kilometers you run in an hour, and a higher number is faster. They are reciprocals of each other.
Are the splits accurate?
They are cumulative times based on an even-pace assumption, which is useful for checking whether your rhythm has drifted, but real races vary with terrain and energy levels.
